New Yorkers preparing for a letdown? 😥

The inaugural NHL 4 Nations Face-Off culminated in what felt like a cage match 🥊between Trump and Trudeau. The United States and Canada played in the Championship game 🏒 where Canada emerged victorious with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win, thanks to a beauty by Connor McDavid. The tournament was not only a showcase of elite hockey talent but also a reflection of the heightened political tensions between the two nations. President Donald Trump's controversial remarks about annexing Canada as the 51st state added fuel to the rivalry and lead to increased viewership and fan engagement. Viewership on ESPN reached a peak audience of 10.4 million and averaged 9.3 million. Politics and world class hockey sell!

Despite the political undertones, the 4 Nations Face-Off was a complete success and a much-needed viewing alternative to the dud that was the NBA All-Star Weekend 🏀 Unlike the NBA players, the best hockey players in the world put forth 100% effort while wearing their country’s colors, which created must-see TV. We cannot wait for the 2026 Winter Olympics 🏂🏻

From a betting perspective, the final was the second-most bet hockey game at Ceasars Sportsbook. Ultimately the books were the biggest champs as most of the money for both the spread and moneyline was on Team USA!

TRIVIA
 😥 Gotham City Struggles

ICYMI, the Cleveland Cavaliers crushed the New York Knicks on Friday night, beating them 142-105! This 37-point loss is the largest of the Tom Thibodeau era that began in the 2020-21 season: the last time the Knicks lost by such a margin, the David Fizdale era had ended with a thud in December 2019. To make matters worse, this loss underscores the Knicks’ lack of success against the NBA’s top teams this season. Do you know the Knicks’ record against the NBA’s top 3 teams so far this season?

TRIVIA ANSWER

With the loss on Friday night, New York is now 0-6 against the NBA’s top three teams, having fruitlessly faced Cleveland, Boston, and Oklahoma City two times each. The Knicks’ performance against the NBA’s top teams this season has New Yorkers preparing for a short stint in the playoffs. If only New Yorkers had football to look forward too….😬
