🍽️ Feast or Famine: Football Edition

Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate...😠

BettrNation family, we hope each of you had an awesome Thanksgiving 🦃 Hopefully you were able to stuff yourself with your favorite foods, enjoy some time with family and friends, and sit back & watch some football 🏈 (at least until you slipped into your food coma 😴)! Now that you’ve been able to sleep off your Thanksgiving meal, it is time to indulge yourself again - but now with all of the juicy 🤤 helpings of football, basketball, and hockey this weekend!

On the CFB front, it is already playoff time for many teams, who are fighting to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive. (Looking at you, Clemson and Texas A&M 👀) If the last few weeks are any indication, we are in for a drama-filled day during this Rivalry Weekend! The drama started last night with the GT-Georgia game 🤯 and will certainly continue throughout the day on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in the NFL, the Lions 🦁 continue to feast on their opponents, although, for this week, they were helped out by some inexplicable clock management decisions by the Bears on Thanksgiving Day (which led to the dismissal of Coach Eberflus on Black Friday yesterday 👋). The Chiefs, however, don’t seem to be able to feast on anything, squeaking out wins against the Panthers last week and the Raiders yesterday. A win is a win, though - and as we enter December, wins are all that really matter! 🤑

TRIVIA
There's nothing I hate more in the world”

Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key didn't mince his words a bit when expressing his raw "hate" for Georgia. "There's nothing I hate more in the world," Key said. "It's probably the only thing I hate. When I say hate, like, truly despise everything about it.”

Key’s team channeled this hate last night against the Georgia Bulldogs, taking the #7 ranked Bulldogs to 8 OVERTIMES! Georgia pulled out the victory in dramatic fashion, preserving their goal for a CFP bid and crushing GT’s dream of playing spoiler.

Inspired by the GT-Georgia game and in honor of Rivalry Week, this week’s trivia has two parts:

(1) Since 2000, how many times has Georgia Tech beaten Georgia and, of those times, how many have been at home in Atlanta?

(2) Last night’s game went to 8 overtimes! What is the record for the most overtime periods in college football history?

TRIVIA ANSWER

Since 2000, GT has beaten Georgia only 4 times, with all of those victories occurring in Athens. The last time GT has beaten Georgia at home in Atlanta was in 1999!

Also, last night’s instant classic matchup was one overtime period away from tying the record. The longest college football game went to 9 overtimes! It was the Illinois-Penn State game from 2021.
