Winter Juan-derland in New York City.....
Well, nobody was expecting that (and no, we aren’t referring to the Rams upset over the Bills last weekend, although that was surprising 😮). We are referring to Bill Belichick’s (baffling?) decision to go coach college football for the UNC Tar Heels 🤯Kudos to UNC for locking down one of the best football coaches ever, although questions 🤔 remain on whether Coach Belichick will be able to adjust to the college scene. With that said, this new era of college athletics (with NIL and the transfer portal) does seem to push college sports - particularly football - closer to the professional model, and the hiring of the Hoody Monster only underscores the professionalization of college football. 1️⃣ thing is certain: UNC must have promised Belichick a blank check 💰, giving him assurance that he will have money to spend in order to turn the Tar Heels football program into a NFL-lite program.
Speaking of money 💰 being spent, Steve Cohen, the owner of the NY Mets, just spent a boatload on acquiring Juan Soto, the star ⭐ free agent that he courted away from the cross-town rival Yankees. In case you missed it, Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million deal 🤑 meaning that he can probably afford one of those nice suites at Citi Field (although Cohen apparently threw in one of those for Soto’s family as a part of the deal). Just like those Tar Heels in North Carolina, this level of investment necessarily carries with it a very clear expectation: championships 🏆 If history is any indication, the NY Mets seem like a safer bet to win a championship over UNC football (unless, of course, Tom Brady decides to go suit up for the Tar Heels).
Here’s to hoping your betting fortunes this weekend are as lucky 🤞 as the Kansas City Chiefs have been this season!! Most importantly, remember:
